William W. Brien M.D.
A lifelong Beverly Hills resident, Dr. Brien is Chief of Staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He joined the Cedars-Sinai medical staff in 1991 and also serves as the Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery and the Director of the Orthopedic Center. Dr. Brien currently serves as a California State Health Commissioner and as a member of the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Brien was President of the Beverly Hills School Board from 1999 to 2003. In 1998, he was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission, later serving as the Vice Chairperson. He has also served as President of the Beverly Hills Little League, President of the Beverly Hills Optimist Club, Assistant Commissioner – A.Y.S.O. Region 76, a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, and a member of the Medical Division Cabinet of the United Jewish Fund.
Councilmember Brien received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Los Angeles County/USC School of Medicine. He and his wife, Connie Agnew, M.D., have four children.
