Join the Worldwide Celebration of Music on June 21!

The City of Beverly Hills will join more than 1000 cities worldwide for Make Music Day on June 21st!

Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world for people of all ages and skill levels and YOU are invited to participate on June 21st and MAKE MUSIC.

SAVE THE DATE and join in a series of exciting onsite & online activities to celebrate the power of music that will bring us together, lift us up and create joy!

11AM - 2PM

Join Alan Bruni at Roxbury Park as he leads a free DRUM CIRCLE from 11am – 2pm!

Feel free to bring your own equipment and instruments to beat on, and don’t worry you don’t need a drum!

Make your own music with items like pencils or chopsticks, cereal boxes or cola cans. If you forget your objects you can clap along!

Based in Los Angeles, Alan thrives as a drum circle facilitator, teaching artist, musician, education consultant, and exotic animal handler. Alan holds a Masters in Aesthetics and Education from the University of Denver, is a REMO Endorsed Artist, a member of the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild, and owner of Rumbling Rhythms. Alan's experiential and interactive programs are designed to facilitate the human potential, meeting with people and teams where they are and helps them find their best "in-the-moment" self.

3PM - 6PM

Join us at Beverly Gardens Park in front of the Lily Pond from 3-6pm as pianists from Music Mends Minds will play recognizable tunes on the piano to spark a community sing-along style performance! Bring your voice to sing-along or an instrument to play-along. Or, just come to listen and enjoy!

Music Mends Minds is a public 501(c)(3) non-profit that fosters musical support groups for seniors with neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and other neurological disorders. Steve Weinglass is the energetic Band Leader, pianist and inspirational performer at the helm of the Music Mends Minds group called the Beverly Hills Treble Makers. Music Mends Minds, through its musical support groups, aims to foster worldwide communities among afflicted individuals and their families, friends, volunteers, and caregivers, all of whom can thrive on socialization and music-making. Interactive Children’s Music
presented by Nuvo and Slippery Rock University
Join Nuvo Instrumental and Slippery Rock University for six hours of interactive children’s music! Activities will alternate between general music experiences and an introduction to NUVO instruments. You can join in at any time and all ages are welcome.

Dance Music Initiative (DMI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to collectively inspire creativity through dance music culture. We are a collective of dance music enthusiasts who pool their resources and knowledge to support others in their musically creative endeavors. DMI inspires others through instruction, mentoring, and sharing.

Join Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) for a series of virtual piano lessons on Make Music Day via Zoom! Teachers from across the country will present a variety of lesson topics for beginner students of all ages. Participants should plan to be near an acoustic piano or digital keyboard when attending these lessons.

Flight Ukulele are putting on 12 hours of ukulele lessons and workshops for players of all skill levels. The workshops will be delivered by our diverse range of talented Flight Uke Crew artists and teachers. Check us out at @flightukulele and on YouTube at Flight Ukulele.

On June 21, music rings out simultaneously across more than 120 countries. Whether you are beneath a skyscraper in Beijing or along the shore of a small Greek fishing village, you will find people making music.

In 2021, for the third year, the Make Music Alliance is organizing a day-long video stream on June 21 showing the rich diversity of Make Music Day events around the world.

Last year’s livestream (below) featured live performances on June 21 from Australia (Sydney), Bulgaria (Sofia), Cyprus (Nicosia), Colombia (Bogota), France (Saint-Pierre-du-Perray), Hong Kong, Scotland (Glasgow) the United Kingdom (Cumbria, Isle of Man, London), and fifteen cities across the United States.
