Featured Art - BH Turns 100
In 2014, the City of Beverly Hills will officially be 100 years old, and this coming spring the Beverly Hills artSHOW will celebrate forty years of fine art and fun. Artist Zale Richard Rubins, a career photographer who will be appearing at the artSHOW this fall, is now in the process of photographing the landmarks of Beverly Hills, preparing his newest body of work which will coincide with this city's anniversary.
The photograph you see below is a composite panoramic image. 150 individual photographs taken by Mr. Rubins overlap to create a scene containing much of the 22-block stretch of land called Beverly Gardens Park, where not so coincidentally to us, the Beverly Hills artSHOW takes place. Here you see the "400" block of the art show in the center of the photograph, directly across from City Hall. This historic linear park glides past the commuter along Santa Monica Boulevard, in the near foreground.

Mr. Rubins is a past chair of the Architectural Commission and active resident in the City of Beverly Hills, as well as a long-standing professional photographer. He, in collaboration with the City's Centennial Committee, is working on a mosaic of classically recognizable Beverly Hills images. As a true community project, Mr. Rubins states that everyone from everywhere is invited to submit photos which say "Beverly Hills". From a selection of these images, he will create a mosaic that will visually represent 100 years of living and loving in our fair city.

Zale Richard Rubins will be displaying a sneak preview of his newest body of artwork in space 359 at the art show this October 19th and 20th, in the category of New Media.
