Weekly Update 09/21/18

Wilshire/La Cienega Station

Wilshire Closure and Lane Reductions Scheduled for Saturday, 9/22. 

  • Westbound Wilshire will be reduced to one lane from Hamilton to Carson, and eastbound Wilshire will be closed from Robertson to La Cienega this Saturday, September 22. Access to local businesses will be maintained. (see Detour Map below).

Weekday Closures Continue on Wilshire Boulevard. 

Scheduled closures* will take place during the day and evening and include the following:

Daytime Closures:

  • Eastbound Wilshire will be reduced to one lane from Hamel to La Cienega from 9 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Westbound Wilshire will be reduced to one lane from Hamilton to Hamel from 9 am to 3:30 pm. The westbound closure will not happen at the same time as the eastbound closure listed above.
  • North Gale will be closed from 7 am to 4 pm.
  • Northbound La Cienega at Wilshire will be reduced to two lanes this Friday, September 21, from 9 am to 4 pm. The left turn lane from westbound Wilshire onto northbound La Cienega will also be closed during this time.

Evening Closures:

  • Westbound Wilshire will be reduced to one lane between San Vicente and Gale from 8 pm to 7 am.
  • Eastbound Wilshire will be reduced to one lane from Stanley to Tower from 8 pm to 7 am.
  • Parking lanes along Wilshire will be closed intermittently from 3 am to 6 am.

Please use alternative routes and continue to respect construction barriers and detours for your safety.

Wilshire/Rodeo Station

Utility Relocation Work Continues on Wilshire Boulevard.

Utility relocation work is taking place behind construction barriers on Wilshire between the alley west of Beverly and Canon. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.*

Wilshire between El Camino and Canon will be reduced to two lanes in each direction at all times. On Monday, September 24, right turns from southbound Beverly onto westbound Wilshire will be restricted.

Closure and detour signage will be posted. Traffic control officers or flaggers will be on site as needed.

Demolition Preparations Continue at Former Ace Gallery Building.

Workers continue to prepare the property for demolition. Installation of construction fencing around the property is underway, and demolition activities are anticipated to begin in late September.* Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm.* Hauling and heavy demolition activity can only take place between 9 am and 4 pm.*

When demolition starts, a portion of the park at 125 S. Reeves will be closed temporarily, and access to the playground will be restricted.

PROJECT DETAILS - Purple Line

The project is scheduled to be built in three sections.  The first section of the Purple Line Extension will extend the subway from the Wilshire/ Western station in Los Angeles to Wilshire/La Cienega in Beverly Hills.  Section 2 extends from the Wilshire/ La Cienega station to the Wilshire/ Rodeo station and then on to the Century City / Constellation station.
