Transportation Metro Purple Line Extension Project Subway Construction
Subway Construction

Metro has begun the construction work to relocate the utilities in preparation for construction of the Wilshire/La Cienega Station which is expected to begin in 2017-18. City staff will provide an overview of how the La Cienega Station will be constructed. The community is encouraged to attend to learn about what to expect during construction and to provide input on permit conditions related to construction work hours/days, traffic, parking, and utility service. In the near future, the Beverly Hills City Council will review a potential agreement between the City and Metro to coordinate construction activities for the Wilshire/La Cienega station. As part of this review, the City Council would like to hear feedback and comments from the community. City of Beverly Hills staff will be available at the meetings to answer questions and record resident comments.

Free, two-hour parking is available at the La Cienega Tennis Center, located across the street from the Community Center at 325 S. La Cienega Boulevard. Limited street parking is available around La Cienega Park. Please read all street signs carefully.

The current Metro Purple Line construction only includes work activities related to the Wilshire/La Cienega station. Construction for the Purple Line from La Cienega to Century City is not being reviewed at this meeting.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has started construction of a three-station Metro Purple Line extension.  In Beverly Hills, this includes construction of the Section 1 terminus station at Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards.   The first major work effort will involve relocating utilities to prepare for construction of the station box.  The City of Beverly Hills and Metro have reached an agreement for the utility relocation phase that includes detailed restrictions and guidelines for mitigating the impacts of construction on residents and businesses in the vicinity. A copy of the agreement is below.

Please note that the Metro Purple Line Section 1 extension construction only includes construction activities related to the Wilshire/La Cienega station.  Construction for the Purple Line Section 2 to Century City is currently scheduled to begin in 2018 with pre-construction activities scheduled to begin in 2017-18.  Detailed information regarding the Purple Line may be obtained at Metro’s website at:  www.metro.net/purplelineext.
