Welcome to the Planning Division.  Within the City’s Community Development Department, the Planning division is committed to providing the community with personal attention, accurate and detailed information, and timely responses in a manner that instills public trust and confidence while exceeding service expectations.

Planning Division Projects

Central Area Single-Family Home Bulk & Mass Study -Exploring ways to reduce percieved size of new homes and provide adequate parking in the Central Area.

Zoning Code Reorganization -Updating the City's Zoning Code to make it easier to read and to apply to development projects.

Cultural Preservation -On February 24, 2012, the City launched a Historic Preservation Program.  For information on the program, visit the Beverly Hills Historic Preservation page.

Housing Programs - The City is committed to planning for the housing needs of the community.  Currently, the City is updating its Housing Element for the 2014-2021 Planning Period.

City's General Plan and Zoning Code.

Sustainability - Educate the community about sustainability issues and promote ecologically-sensitive practices.

Zoning Review - Review projects for compliance with City zoning codes, work with applicants to obtain any necessary entitlements.

Entitlements - Provide information and assistance in obtaining reviews and entitlements prior to applying for a building permit.

Planning Commission- Support the Planning Commission who are charged with overseeing administration of the zoning code.

Architectural Commission - Support the Architectural Commission who are charged with approving the architecture of commercial and multi-family buildings.

Cultural Heritage Commission - Support the Cultural Heritage Commission who are charged with recommending the designation of historic properties to City Council and reviewing Mills Act program applications.

Design Review Commission - Support the Design Review Commission who are charged with approving the architecture of the parts of single-family homes that are visible from City streets.

 


*New* Discontinuance of Uses- At its regular meeting on Thursday, February 13, 2014, the Beverly Hills Planning Commission will discuss a study session item on the establishment of time limits for discontinued legally nonconforming uses and conditionally permitted uses.  For more information, please click here.

*New* Vendome Wine and Spirits - Consideration of a request for a determination of public convenience or necessity to allow an off-sale alcohol license to be issued for the sale of beer, wine, and spirits at the property located at 270 South Robertson Boulevard.

On January 29, 2014, the City held a public hearing to consider the request to sell alcohol at the subject property.  The hearing officer granted the request, subject to specific conditions of approval.  The hearing, determination and conditions of approval can be found in links below:
